State Project Freebie

I have started a state project with my 3rd graders.  Each student randomly chose a state to research.  I gave each student a planner to write his/her information down on.  Students used Ben's Guide website to find information.

Next they will create a powerpoint on their state.  Once the power points are done, we will have a Hurray for the USA day where they will each present the state they researched.

Holiday Bulletin Board

I admit, I have a pinterest addiction.  Since this is my first year in the Media Center, I need all the ideas I can get.  I saw a very cute bulletin board with the same message (Reading Lights Up Your Mind) and it used real Christmas Lights!  I would have loved that one, but I have no electrical outlet near my board so I had to settle with the board I did (pictured below).  It turned out pretty cute I must say :)

This Weekend's Hat

This is the hat I made this weekend.  It is a "dinosaur" hat done in Raven's colors.  Very cute :)

My Many Hats

We all wear many hats in life.  I am a wife of nine years, mother (to an angel), teacher, media specialist/librarian, home cook, blogger and hat maker (hence the name of my blog).

I began my teaching career in 2001.  I have taught pre-K, 1st grade, 2nd grade and new this year...media specialist/school librarian where I now teach pre-K-6th grade.  This is my first year in the library and I am always looking for new ideas (pinterest is my newest obsession).

In 2008 I became a mother.  I had a beautiful baby boy named Trevor.  In 2009, at the age of 9 months, Trevor was beaten, shaken and killed by his daycare provider.  I became a blogger to share my feelings and to share my son's story (you can read more about Trevor here).

It is my hope to share teaching/library ideas, recipes and crochet patterns I love on this new blog.
